The R.E.D. Wave

By now, you’ve probably seen reference to the R.E.D. Wave – the evolving expectations for on-demand results. Today, in business and outside business, Results Expected on-Demand (R.E.D) is the mantra, especially for today’s mobile user.

Why should you be interested? Your goal is to provide individuals in your eco-system — your employees, partners, stakeholders, and clients — with the knowledge they derive from interacting with you. So how does that really happen?

These individuals rely on knowledge. Knowledge comes from their understanding of the information provided to them. And the information they get is from the various sources of raw data available to them. So, data from the various sources, becomes the information that individuals in your eco-system use to be knowledgable. Getting that knowledge is the result expected from these individuals.

Traditionally however, these individuals were forced to collect the data themselves and build their own information. In a mobile environment, this is equivalent to a mobile solution provider talking about pushing information out to the mobile device, or mobilizing a back office system. For the individual in your eco-system this means raw data streaming out in disparate applications, maybe even different devices.

In the environment where results are expected on-demand (the R.E.D. Wave), mobile users look through their device, from one application, into the back office for the raw data to be compiled for them so they can get information at the point of performance and be knowledgeable on-demand.

In the R.E.D. Wave, a mobile solution provider’s perspective is from the mobile user’s side, not the back office. And this provides the mobile user with the information they need, on-demand, where and when they need it, so that they are knowledgeable.
